Little Lions U4
This program is designed for those active 3 year olds that may be a bit to small or just a tad bit to young to play in the U6 division. This program will be conducted by our long term tenured coach, and VP of Operations, Robert Long and will be held on an assigned weeknight for 1 hour. Practices will consist of running around with the players parent (s), learning about the game of soccer, making new friends, and having a blast. Unlike the older divisions, the Little Lions will only play on the week nights and will not have any Saturday games (Except playing at the half time of some of the ECSC championships, which is optional). It will follow the season schedule starting in the fall. We will run a total of 8 practices throughout the season (all on the same week night) with a week off for school breaks. What is required for this program:
- Cleats
- Shinguards
- A Size 3 ball
- A water bottle
***East Cherokee SC will provide a youth small or extra small jersey for the players to wear on practice days included with the registration cost.
Coach Robert Long
Meet the coach! Coach Robert began playing competitive soccer in Seattle, Washington. A natural left-footer, he played left midfield and striker in the Washington State Premier League program from 6th grade through high school. He won two high school state championships in soccer, was a two-time state finalist in track and field, and a finalist for Washington High School Athlete of the Year in 1996. He played briefly at Amherst College and served as the head referee in the Penn State Intramural soccer program while in graduate school.
When he’s not supporting the National Weather Service as a research scientist (the ‘real-world’ job), Robert leads the “Little Lions” (Under 4) program and officiates games for East Cherokee Soccer Club and currently holds the position of Vice President for the East Cherokee Soccer Club. Coach Robert's children are also members of ECSC.
